Week of July 16 – 22 // Love One Another // 1 John 3:10-18

What is the visible, historical mark of Christian community?

Box 7 Tip:

Is there someone in your corps (member or staff) who needs encouragement right now? Invite them to have a meal with you. Make the plan a block or day in advance, then meet before going through the food truck line to make it easier to connect and sit down together in your own space to talk. Think ahead about caring questions to ask or genuine affirmation to give.

Plan: looking ahead a few days, how will I spend time with God?

Pray: where & when will I pray? what & who will I pray for?

Pursue: who is in my Focus Group, and how will we set aside time?

  • "...let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth." 1 John 3:18

Pray

  • Father God, in the fatigue of this drum corps summer, we need your help to love those around us in active ways. Help me to see and care for those who are most in need this week. In Jesus' name, Amen.”

Discovery Bible Study suggestion for this week: 1 John 3:16-18

Discussion Points:

  • What are you thankful for this week?
  • What is challenging in your section of the corps, tour job, bus, or staff team?
  • Pray for each other. Ask God for love in your corps to become active rather than just words.

Personal Reflection & Recap

  • Is there anyone at your corps who is difficult for you to love? Check your heart about how pride and fear may affect your feelings for that person. Confess to God and ask for His help to give you a compassionate heart towards that person.
